Become a decathlete of your life.

I had a great question this week which is such a common query and so I thought it valued my Friday blog.

How can I possibly prioritise my health when I have so many other things to take care of?

Kids.
Work.
Pets.
Washing.
Study.
Cooking.
Exercise.
Groceries.
Housework.
Responsibilities.

There are so many tasks asked of us and boxes that need ticking in our every day lives, it’s no wonder it can be so difficult to prioritise health.

Without our health, however, what do we have?

I’ve always said you have to look after your body for your body to look after you.

Sure, eating well and exercising doesn’t necessarily mean you will avoid all health issues, however, they are components within your control which can drastically reduce the likelihood of those health issues.

So if we know time for health is important, how do we find the time?

Start small.

Can’t get to the gym? Do 20 squats at home.

No time to change your weekly meal plan? Change just one meal this week.

Life too busy to meditate? Take just 5 minutes outside for yourself.

Work too stressful to quit drinking? Make every second glass a glass of water.

You wouldn’t expect a decathlete to go from not exercising to being exceptional in all 10 of their events right? No. You’d understand they would introduce one event and step by step increase their capability and performance over time.

So don’t beat yourself up for not being able to do everything at once or at 110%. Pick your event, focus on it and take just one step this week to improving your performance.
